Natalie Doonan is an artist and educator. Over the last ten years, Natalie has exhibited photo-based work, video and animation in galleries located in Canada, the United States, China and Mexico. Most recently, she has turned to performance work, presented in “public” spaces in Vancouver, Canada. Natalie has worked in various art institutions, including the Blackwood Gallery, the National Gallery of Canada, the Sandra Ainsley Gallery, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the University of British Columbia, The Art Institute and Sheridan College. She currently teaches courses in Public Practice, Visual Culture and Culture Theory Emily Carr University. She is co-founder of The Miss Guides: A Cultural Walking Collective (www.themissguides.com). Her artistic and research interests include pedagogy, labour, repetition, art in the public sphere and collaboration.
Natalie holds a diploma in Art and Art History from Sheridan College, an Honours B.A. in Fine Arts with a Major in English from the University of Toronto, and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia.
